Shellac or Gelish

Harmony Gelish and CNG Shellac are two of the most well known hybrid soak-off nail polishes. How do they stack up? Keep reading to find out.

Price
When professionally applied at a salon, the prices are roughly the same. If buying starter kits for yourself, price will vary depending on what store you are purchasing from and the amount of colors you purchase. However, when buying colors individually, Gelish is less expensive than Shellac.
Winner: Gelish

Color Variation
Shellac and Gelish have a decent amount of color variations to choose from on the market. However, neither even comes close to the amount of colors that non-hybrid nail brands offer. This fact alone makes both losers of this battle.

Application of the polish
Basically, the total amount of time is the same. But Gelish definitely has more steps to actually apply the nail polish and various base and top coats. The only difference is that it cures a lot faster. The winner? Draw

How long does it last?
Both polishes claim to last up to 2 weeks. That is a really long time! Here is the real difference: Harmony is a true gel nail polish and CND is a hybrid. Obviously, a hybrid isn't going to be as tough as a gel. But then again, a hybrid isn't going to be as tough to remove as a gel either! As long as you can stand the longer time it takes to remove Harmony, I would say that it is the slight winner.

Speaking of removal time
Again, Gelish is slightly harder to remove because of its gel nail polish formulation. It does require some scraping prior to removal and a lot of people don't like that.

Which Brand do you like best?
This is kind of a controversial subject. Harmony claims to protect its brand more than CND by refusing to make it available to the public. Some people are annoyed by that fact because that makes it really hard to find. Likewise, CND might be easier to find, but that also opens it up to fakes and impostors too. Results: Tie

Total Results
I think that it's fair to crown Harmony as the winner of this product war. Both polishes have a lot to offer, but one is slightly better.
